It’s so important for mind, body and soul to have something to look forward to and to get out in nature, especially this time of year when there’s less sunlight and cloudier days. Seasonal affective disorder is totally a thing that can make even the most cheerful person feel completely meh (I reported on SAD years ago when I was a health and medical reporter at KPLR-11 in St. Louis).

Today I talked about treating yourself this fall with some much needed rest and relaxation just a short drive from St. Louis with the always delightful Kim Hudson on Fox 2 News. We chatted about my recent visit to Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary and Crown Valley Winery Brewery and Distillery in Sainte Genevieve – all about an hour drive from St. Louis. It’s quite the oasis that reminds me of all the time I spent in Napa and Sonoma when I lived in San Francisco – although I didn’t have rescued tigers to visit out there!

Below is video of the interview and more info about my visit…

Staying at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary is one of my favorite places on earth. They are a responsible, licensed tiger sanctuary that doesn’t exploit the animals for a buck. They are a true sanctuary that gives the animals plenty of room to roam and keeps them mentally and physically fit with enrichment activities. I did a full story about this place for Higher Education Channel about five years ago and went back to see what was new.

Do Tell. Have you ever been to an animal sanctuary? Do you like to get out to wineries and B&Bs in the fall? Do tell.
