We live in a culture that’s very go go go. The world seems to be moving at a breakneck pace. It can all feel very overwhelming – between what we see on the news and the daily demands of our lives with work and our families. It’s easy to think, “there just isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done.” “I’ll never get ahead.” “How can I squeeze more into a day?” “How can I multitask and do more?” “How can I be more?”
And yet this just leads to illness and breakdown. Life will find a way to slow you down if you don’t do it yourself. Running faster and piling on more leads to living a life out of balance, where we’re more likely to make mistakes, experience drama around us, butt heads with co-workers, partners and family – all things that take up a lot of time and energy. For example, think of the time spent searching for lost keys and phone, when we forget things and have to drive back, or when we get into a conflict at work or with our kids.
And yet, when we take time to center and get peaceful within, things begin to change around us. When our energy shifts, the world around us shifts. It creates a ripple effect.
To calm the chaos and live more in the flow, I invite you to do something that may seem counterintuitive. Instead of speeding up and piling more on, I invite you to stop. Take a breath. Feel your body. Get present. Listen. Focus on your breath. Don’t wait for the weekend or a vacation to breathe.
Even just a few minutes of slowing down and being mindful will have a ripple effect throughout your day. As we give ourselves a few minutes to tap into the peace that’s always there within ourselves, we calm the mind chatter. We think more clearly. We make wiser choices. We handle what’s happening in our lives with more ease. We are more likely to experience more harmony in our relationships at work, with our friends and families.
As we get more peaceful it affects the people and events around us. When we begin to shift to peace within ourselves, we start seeing that reflected all around us.
How To. Take some breaks during the day to get present. Be mindful. It doesn’t have to be a large amount of time. Even just a few minutes makes a difference. I talked about this today on Fox 2 News. You can bring mindfulness to the things you already do during the day. I gave an example of how to turn your morning skin care into a moving meditation.
Do you ever get clarity in the shower? Do the best ideas come to you then? That’s because you’re getting out of your head – out of worrying about the future or feeling resentful about something in the past – and into the present moment and a more relaxed state of being.
You can do this with most anything throughout the day. Feel your feet as you walk across the room. Notice your breath.
When you have more time, take a little more time to relax with a facial or massage. They’re not indulgences. They help you get peaceful and that affects everything in your life – from your relationships and health to your work and even your bank account.
The skin care I showed in my example today is from Bee Naturals, a wonderful locally made, natural skin care, hair care and body care line. The products a super good deal. They’re very high quality while still being affordable with many items between $10-$20.
The owner is all about providing excellent quality, natural products to help you care for and nurture your skin and your soul to reduce stress and feel happier and more peaceful.
They’re also offering an amazingly good deal to help you relax and ground yourself. First-time clients can get a full facial that is normally $85 for only $50 so you can soothe yourself and unwind even more. This is an excellent facial! Karen, who gives the facials, is very talented and has great energy. I got a facial there and left with beautiful, radiant skin! And I love using the products she recommended each day. My skin looks and feels amazing! And my soul loves everything too. 🙂
